Conservation Starts with You: Protecting Lakela’s Mint

Help protect a plant found nowhere else on Earth!

Join the conservation community off-site for a unique, hands-on conservation experience focused on Lakela’s Mint, a critically endangered plant found only within a three-mile stretch from south Indian River County to north St. Lucie County.

October is a critical time for Lakela’s mint because the plants are in bloom. During this special conservation program, you’ll work alongside plant biologists and conservation teams from Indian River County and Bok Tower Gardens who are dedicated to protecting this incredibly rare species.

Participants will help with habitat restoration and invasive plant removal, while learning about the challenges of protecting one of Florida’s most rare native plants and the ongoing efforts to help it survive.

This is a special opportunity to step beyond the Garden and become part of real conservation work happening right here in our community.

Learn. Get Your Hands Dirty. Make a Difference.

Together, we can help protect Lakela’s mint and the unique natural heritage of Indian River County for generations to come.
